Associate Professor of Philosophy Dr. Chris Latiolais has been awarded the 2009-2010 Florence J. Lucasse Lectureship for Excellence in Teaching.

On April 3, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled against a law banning same-sex marriage in the state. The case had been before the court since 2005, and the ruling legalizing same-sex marriage will stand until at least 2012, as it takes two years to amend the constitution in Iowa.

On Feb. 2, 2009, Hussain Turk, a Kalamazoo College sophomore, attended “Israel 101,” led by the Hillel Organization, a Jewish student group on WMU’s campus. He came alone and in protest with a sign that read “AmeriKKKa Funds Israeli Terrorism.”
