Men’s Tennis

The men’s tennis team (15-8) defeated Calvin (16-7) 9-0 to claim their 71st consecutive MIAA Championship on Friday, May 1.

Five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets, with only Pat Boyd K’10 having to play to a third set at three singles.

When was the last time you saw a woman yelling directions to the offensive line on the sideline of a college football game? Or the last time you saw one scribbling on a white board during a timeout in a collegiate men’s basketball game? I’ve never seen one; maybe you have. After all, about 3 percent of men’s intercollegiate teams are coached by women.

It was recently discovered that the 34-man baseball team is, in fact, also a militia.

Witnesses, most of whom wish to remain anonymous for fear of their lives, have overheard conversations that lead them to believe that the team will attempt to overtake the college once their numbers reach 50; they expect to hit 60 next year.

There are 34 men on this year’s baseball roster and two weeks until competition. 20 of those are freshmen, and this year’s captains say it makes a difference.

“You have so many people come in, you create a new team dynamic,” said Eddie Barclay K’09. “It’s a good thing for the team in general.”

The men’s tennis team (2-1) defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater 9-0 in their home opener on Sunday, February 8th.

Jason Brown K’10 won at one singles, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-2. Cyrus Jadun K’10 outlasted his opponent 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 10-4 in the two singles.
