Drop Out and Get Famous Like Selma Blair!
Friday, March 13, 2009
The only reason you’re leaving after a year is because you’ve realized that you’d rather be making $40,000 per shoot instead of paying that much for classes.
Here are five reasons that producers will want you even if you’ve only been at K for a short time:
1. Directors will see that you’re smart enough to know when something is eating you alive and to get out before it does. It’s very useful to know when determining whether to use a stunt double instead of jumping out of the plane yourself.
2. Any research skills acquired at K will be extremely helpful. Producers will see that “K” on the resume and think ‘Now I’ll have someone who can research a role properly!’ K students also have the ability to stay true to themselves even when engrossed in different roles. They can multitask with the best of them.
3. “Connections, connections, connections” is much more important than “location” for K students. Having gone to K for any amount of time you’ll be able to find alumni anywhere and they’ll automatically know what you’ve gone through. This is immensely important in building relationships in the workforce.
4. The work schedule of K closely resembles that moment when you have 15 seconds to figure out how to stop the train from flying over a cliff. Employers recognize this and know they’ve hired someone who can take the pressure of cramming a whole script in a night for a shoot that starts the next day.
5. Students are often asked about themselves, their accomplishments, and what they hope to gain from experiences at K. Being able to speak about these things in a clear and concise manner is one of the most important aspects to becoming famous. In order gain a role it is important to be able to promote yourself. If anyone can spin something together that will sound impressive, it’s K kids.
