Guilds Conference to Examine International Business

On April 2 and 4, 2009, Kalamazoo College’s Business Guild will host a three-day conference on the connections between rigorous liberal arts studies and emerging international business practices.

We’ll examine the impact of cultural differences on international business, current trends in international banking and finance, topics in international marketing, and emerging business models in the global field of alternative energy, all from the perspective of how a liberal arts education offers unique preparation for entry into the world of international business

We’ve lined up a wide range of experts, many of whom are Kalamazoo College alumni, to guide and inform the conference plenary sessions, panel discussions, and workshops.

We’ve also chosen a popular non-fiction book, The Travels of a T-shirt in the Global Economy, as a common reading for this conference. The author, Dr. Pietra Rivoli of Georgetown University, will join us.

Registered participants will have the opportunity to meet the author and discuss the book on the final day of the conference.

Funded in part by the James S. Kemper Foundation, the conference will be held on the Kalamazoo College campus and is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni, friends, and colleagues in the community.

Members of the Business Guild can register at no cost, and non-members are invited to join us for a small registration fee. If you register by March 6, you are eligible for a $10 discount.
