Men's Soccer Stung by Britons

Monday, October 19, 2009

The Kalamazoo College men’s soccer team suffered a close loss to Albion this Saturday, Oct. 10.

Albion took the lead early on in the game when Garrett Kulman scored for the Britons in the 7th minute on a breakaway. They struck again late in the 2nd half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Kalamazoo controlled possession of the ball most of the game, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Hornets had 11 shots to the Briton’s 10, but only managed to put 2 of those shots on goal.

“We outplayed Albion—we had a lot of dangerous challenges, we just lacked the right combination to score,” said co-captain Bryan Rekowski K’10.

The men’s team continues to be plagued by the inability to score, as they have been shut out in 8 games this season.

“We seem to be able to do everything else well, but we lack the urgency to put it in the net,” said Rekowski.

The game was moved to Battle Creek due to unplayable field conditions in Kalamazoo. The Hornets (2-7-1, 2-4 MIAA) return to action on Thursday at Hope.
